Default Got this in the mail today

This arrived in the post today....

I opened the box and found.....

...so here we go...the instructions say that all I need are these...

This is what the original looked like...

First, remove the two cross-head and four allen screws - put them somewhere safe...

Next, simply pull out the rubber grommet/nut thingies - yeah right! I found that it was actually easier to carefully draw them through the fairing by gently pulling the screen away from the fairing...carry on withdrawing the screen until your pride and joy looks something like this...

Now...carefully offer up the new screen to the top of the fairing and gently slot it into the correct position ensuring that the screw holes line up correctly...then insert the rubber grommet/nut thingies - they go in much easier...incidentally a top tip to help ease their insertion is to place them in a cup of warm water...like this...

Yes - it really does help. Top tip No.2 - ensure that the water isn't so hot that you scald your fingertips when trying to salvage the thingies from the cup!!

Anyway, with the screen in place and the rubber thingies firmly replaced, insert the six screws that you put in a safe place earlier, tighten...et voila!!!

Great!! This would have been easily completed within the bogey time of 25 mins if it wasn't for the fact that I had two shots at placing the screen BECAUSE I suddenly realised that there is a small strip of what looks like black window seal (the stuff with one sticky side what keeps the wind out!!) that cushions the screen from the inner part of the fairing - mine had got slightly moved/twisted/whatever...so I had to reposition it all...otherwise...piece of cake!!!

As an aside, I purchased this item from fleabay...and had to pay the postage on arrival as it had gone missing in transit and it was sent recorded . Anyway, contacted the seller and hey presto he credited me with the relevant amount - no quibbles - which I guess he'll reclaim from the post office...so BIG THUMBS UP to him!!

Hope this helps.

*stands back and waits for the post to be moved to another place!!*

Screen looks like it'll do the job!

What are those eyes all about though... Love the colour.

Yes the eyes...now...it started with a rush of sh!t to the brain as these things often do. BUT since I've put them on, I've observed many a car driver take a double look at what's coming down the road...which is good...because that means that not only have they seen me, but their spending longer (albeit micro seconds) observing me therefore registering the fact that there's some looney on a copper bike with eyes approaching at some terrifying speed No really - it's true...hey...now there's a marketing idea hmmm....

Agree that the eyes do seem to catch car drivers attention too, and unlike the Foggy eyes they are friendly-looking I think

Nice job, if only I had known about the warm water for those rubber things it would have been so much easier.... I had the same trouble with the cushion strip as well.

What you're saying does have a scientific basis. There is something about shapes that resemble faces that make people double take (and drivers pay more attention). Honda are actually developing a bike that looks (in front profile) a bit like a face, for this reason.

Once again, Honda trying to follow where Suzuki have already led
