Anyone know if there is a way to use a regular riveting tool to rivet new chain? I dont have access to chain tool and dont want to be charged an hours worth of labor for something that should take 5 mins

Indeed you can, a centre punch / hammer/ block of metal (or something heavy to put behind it) and a little care is all it needs.
Cheers Mark.
