Hi, When I am doing 100 on my naked K1 the wind buffets like hell unless I get really tucked down. So I haven't been over that yet. About what will a naked do top speed? How does a cross wind affect an S? More or less than a naked?

I can't compare, as I haven't ridden the naked.
But I have ridden in gusting winds up to about 60mph, whilst riding at motorway speeds. That was, well, interesting, but I stayed in one piece. It wasn't too uncomfortable either once you get used to it, so I'd probably do it again. |

I've ridden both. If you are tall like me then you can't really get down low enough behind the fairing to benefit much from it. Up to about 100 Mph I found next to no difference in the wind force against me but thereafter the fairing became effective.

Your still get buffetted around by the wind though the screen does help, mines topped out at 140 on the clock. To be honest though I wish I'd bought a naked.
You'll find cross-winds are a problem on all bikes. |

Hi Dan, Any specific reason for wishing you'd bought a naked? John

In 2 weeks I'll be getting started on my original SV, repairing the damage and putting the renthal bars on (even though its a S), ZX6 shock, so we'll see how it goes. After that its just save up some more money for the rest GSXR front end and JMC swing arm. |

You'll soon learn to develop neck muscles like Arnold Schwartzeneger
The best I ever got out of my naked 650 was 128mph on the clocks ![]() The 1000 is a good 20-30mph faster ![]() |

Comparing the Unfaired and faired SV650 is easy. I rode both and I found them to be different bikes.
The unfaired has a more upright riding position which is far more comfy than the S and a doddle around town...like riding a BMX... The unfaired felt fast even at 60mph! You can go faster on the S but not 'feel' faster if you know what i mean. The unfaired has less wieght over the front wheel so it felt light and floaty while my S feels planted. I would go for the N around town and the S for motorways. |

Well Helga is is my work bike and she's a S, Anastasia is soon to be my moded bike, becoming a kind of half S with N bars. Though when the GSXR bits get bought I'll put the N bars on Helga but keep the screen, as the upright possition should help my back.

I would really like to sit more upright on my naked. Are Renthal(or others) bars able to give you a more upright position. I am going to tour spain later in the year and I still feel a bit of a 'crouch' with my current bars.
