Right. Tomorrow I'm off to buy myself a shiny new helmet.
![]() What should I be looking for and how much should I be looking to spend? It'll be my first helmet for wearing while on my first bike. ![]() I'll be using it for weekend riding and commuting when the weather's nice. I've been thinking about the Caberg Justissimo flip front helmet or something similar. What do you guys think? |

shoei raid 2 ,,£200 or thereabouts ,,cracking helmet ,but above all (if you cant afford a 'good ' helmet )get the best fitting one .by most accounts the build quality on the 'cheaper' lids is a bit ropey , spend a bit more and get a good one

I would go with an Arai lid everytime....you get what you pay for and your head needs the best production.
As a guide mine cost £350 but you can get them cheaper...condor??? What i would say is to not get a 2nd hand lid, as usually you dont know its history. I am constantly surprised by the amount i see selling on ebay! |

How much do you want to spend.
Personally after looking at Liz's Caberg which was f*cked beyond all belief after 9 months of every day use. I wouldnt buy one. Shoei Raid II as mentioned always gets good reviews and is well priced. Have a look at the Arai chaser range of lids to. As always with lids, buy the one that fits your head best.

HJC are top notch for little cash.
If you are on a budget, HJC every time. Shoei Raid II as mentioned for £200...top notch too. Last edited by The Basket; 22-04-07 at 06:13 PM. |

I started out a Takatchi lid then got a new one at christmas there, Nitro but not sure what model it is, pretty good light and not too noisey
![]() The Takatchi is quite heavier than the Nitro one but like fizzwheel said go with the one that fits your melon the best. |

Shoei for me, cos they fit my head perfectly. Arai are the best though I reckon. Save a bit of money and go for a single boring colour or last years race rep paint jobs. Make sure it's fibreglass or carbon...........not polycarbonite.

Well me and maria have aria condors, which we can't fault. But it depends on your head shape! I wanted a shoei, but i dont have the right head shape - but i do have an arai head, so thats why i got the condor!
See what fits, then decide on money and stuff. Look for vents that work and visors that are easy to open and something not too heavy. Matt |

My advice is:
1/ Always buy the best you can afford. 2/ Go for fit rather than looks etc. Cheers, Gaz. |
