Default Paint Codes

Hi all,
Does anyone know of any way of finding out the 'actual' paint code for the colours used?

I don't mean the Suzuki paint code (Eg, mine is: YDV - Metallic Euclase Silver)
but the ACTUAL paint code used to mix up the colour? (For if you were the person making up the paint)

After taking it to someone who is restoring my fairing, the 'Suzuki YDV' code means nothing to them.
Anyone have any ideas? (If not then a trip to get it colour matched is the next step)
- Steve

Just checked something...I have a tin of YDV colour paint from PAINTS4U.COM. The description is Sky Silver (BSB SUZ YDV).

I would have thought there is no paint code? Possibly there is a "recipe" for the paint, and the paints used to make it up may have paint codes from the manufacturer of those...so if Suzuki don't make their own paint, and if they are willing to supply both the name of the manufacturer of its paint components, and the codes for those components, as well as the mix of those paints...you might be able to tell a painter where to get the paint and how to mix it?

That's all just theory though...I just can't imagine there's a single, universal, code for paint!

There actually is... similar to how a 6 digit hex code on a computer can create a digital colour on screen, there are equivalent codes which people can make up a paint mixture from.

And from slark01's link, it looks like it's 'VLG5B' - although can't be 100% sure...
