Default Is it possible to carry tyres?

I've got a service on Wednesday and need to pick up a new set of tyres. Is it possible to carry a set of motorcycle tyres on a bike? It can't be easy!

Yes. I have carried 2 tyres and a rear paddock stand on the back on mine, no problem. Bit of duct tape is all you need. No need to go overboard, you'd be amazed how little tape you actually need to secure it safely. Little tip, tape both tyres together first then tape that to the bike, makes it a bit more secure. Let us know how you get on!

It can be done easily enough, but make sure you cover your rear bodywork cos they will overlap the seat. I had a pair of Diablos strapped to the back of my Bandit for a 375 mile trip to Glasgow once, all my weekend gear fitted nicely in the centre.

If you need to carry a tailpack anyway, yes I'd put them around that, if not, I'd just tape them to each other and tape that to your pillion seat(rear tyre at the bottom). If you're going any sort of distance, I'd put some of the padding you put under soft luggage to prevent scratches. For a quick 2 mile ride across town though, I didn't bother and there were no marks on mine from it.

I rode a small distance with tyres round my waist once. A little awkward, some funny looks and a tyre mark on the tank (which has now gone). Otherwise, fine.

I put a ratchet strap around a pair and strapped them to my back.

If you put them round your waist imagine how far you could roll if you came off
