Has anyone ever used (on a bike or car) the stuff you put in through the valve after you get a puncture (I'm not talking prevention here like ultraseal or slime), after the event.
Theres a couple of makes you see the Tyreweld one and a Carplan one which comes in a nice silver can ![]() If these work I might start carrying one. Anyone used it? |

A lass we know had a puncture, and used the Slime stuff, which worked. But other people, ourselves included, have tried similar stuff which hasn't worked. I think it's probably to do with the type and size of puncture hole, if that makes sense.
But I don't see any reason not to carry it, you might be lucky and it works.

back in the day, i put some in my RM250 the tyre came off the rim................. never again

i think i put to much in, & as it expanded it forced the tyre off the rim

Ok, heres another q then. Once in, can you plug the tyre later and carry on regardless or do you need to clean the crap out before you plug the tyre?
I'm thinking of it as a last resort as I have seen a couple of rep-air type plug fixes that have leaked a bit, and I'm thinking that a squirt of this after a rep-air may do the trick? |

No they say you must get it properly repaired. I've juts had a read elsewhere and the wisdon seems to be carry a can in case your rep-air plugs leak a bit.
So thats the order then....1. plug type fix, 2. weld in case that leaks, 3. panic. |

I've used the tyreweld, it worked twice when the tyre had a small hole, enough to get me to a tyre place at which point I got a new tyre. ( just my personal preference )
The third time I had to use it, it didnt fix the hole, mind you the hole was huge so I had to use the "Fizz's dad with a van" breakdown recovery service ![]() Personally I prefer the Rep and Air Kit from Hein Gerricke, as it'll cope with a large hole in the tyre than the Tyreweld stuff does.. and it takes up less room than the can of tyre weld does under the seat hump. I guess using it with the rep and air kit, would probably work OK though if the hole was massive. I'd wander how the tyreweld would react with the glue that holds the plug in on the rep and air kit though...

Its been done and seems to do the trick. A guy on another forum who knows his stuff had a bolt puncture a tyre in Morocco and 2x Rep-air plugs in the hole plus tyreweld got him home.
