Default 07 , did the TRE mod, problems, help!

So, I get the 15k ohm resistor, female spade connectors, heatshrink tubing.

put one together, check and 14.82K ohm. Good to go.

Find the connection, unhook, push out the Pink and Black/White spade connector (female side of the plug). Leave the blue wire alone and reconnect the plug. (blue wire connected)

Hook up the TRE resistor to the Pink and Black/White spade connectors.

Turn on the ignition, FI (in bold letters)shows up on left side of guage package, FI red light on. Hmm......
Fire up the bike, FI (in bold letters) goes away, but FI shows up on lower right of gauge package. FI red light on.
Put everything back original, no problem

What did I do wrong?
2007 SV650 nekid

thanks.

the 07 and in fact anything after 04 won't benefit from the tre mod

do a search you will find plenty of info on it - can't remember the specifics

The TRE mod is a Timing Retard Eliminator Mod. Form my understanding, even on the 04+, the timing at 50% throttle and less, in first, second, and maybe 3rd gear is retarded. this results in less power and less noise. On higher power bikes this makes a difference and it is an attempt at keeping the bike from dumping in a turn or flipping. On bikes like the busa, they fake it into thinking it is always in 5th gear to avoid the speed limiter. On the SV we fake it to be in 6th gear which should have the best timing map.

I did it on my 07 and i noticed a difference in the part-throttle response. Sure it could be all mental, but it might be actual as well.

These are only my views and how i understand it all to work.

oh and for banderso, did you hook up the resistor to the correct side of the plug? it needs to go on the right plug(as looking at the bike from the rear) the one on the left goes down to the transmission.

i thought timing retard in the lower gears was to do with noise control rather than the danger of putting too much power down??
