Default Oh, the irony

Of Mervyn King warning us that the whole country is facing an economic down turn, that we'll all struggle to pay our bills and afford to eat

Standing in a dinner jacket at the lavish 'Manshion House' dinner.
I hope they weren't stingy on the wine

i like how the half man half badger darling has decided that now the economy is going down the crapper it's time to hand responsibility for the nation's financial security to someone else

Quote:
Chancellor Alistair Darling has outlined plans to give the Bank of England new responsibilities in his Mansion House speech.

Speaking in his first keynote address to business leaders, the chancellor said the Bank would now be accountable for the UK's financial stability.

This is in addition to its statutory objective of setting interest rates.

What a Coincidence G2D I was thinking about that this morning on the news.

How much gold plated cutlery and tea sets did they need.

They talk about financial change but what do they know unless they themselves experience it. To them its just talk.

Now where's my expenses form I need to get a new kitchen!

Anyone who has studied economics at any level will be expecting this to happen, How many years of Keynesian theory have we had now? Driving the economy and causing it to over heat and then at the end you get stagnation. I believe that Thatchers hero Friedman warned about this happening in the 80's.

There is one way to stop all of this happening however but I can't imagine any Government ever going for it because of the initial chaos it would cause.

Bring an end to trade, start with socialism and go to the next few steps, until there is no global trade any more, every one lives in a giant commune based upon peace and love, with every one offering their skills to the collective out of altruism as opposed to trade.

I believe the idea was put forward by prot, a mental patient in the novel K-Pax! Bound to work if you think about it

After all, what could go wrong?

Hmmm, you might want to pick you party carefully - a General Election is coming up in a period of a) economic downturn and b) particular hostility towards the current government...
