Default Removing cat

I fitted a Fuel end can to my pointy last year but left the cat in just in front of the connecting pipe. If I rip it out will it alter my exhaust note at all? I've decated cars before and it makes quite a difference.

Yeah it won't meow quite so much.

Oh come on, someone had to.

I have an 03 pointy with oval fuel can and obviously no cat. I'd post a sound clip but I always find exhaust recordings sound nothing like the real thing.

Nice dad joke! Well that's what I always get told when I come out with them.

Mine is an oval stubby too which sounds really rumbly but more rumble would never be a bad thing.

Touché!

I would imagine the cat would muffle the highs so removing it might release more crackle and bark rather than affect the rumble or boominess. Total conjecture tho.

Would removing the catalyst mean an MOT fail, or isn't this tested?

Depends on the tester, if you find a nice decent MOT tester they won't fail the bike...

I know mines is mad about bikes and quite likes my arrow cans suppose that's different to removing the cat.

Might just leave it in there then, just trying to think of a cheap or free mod to do that I haven't already- lighter evenings are fueling my desire to tinker!

Motorcycle MOT's don't include an emissions test at the moment, so removing the CAT won't make any difference.
Some testers don't like race cans, depends how friendly they are!
