Default back to the future III

It's just been on TV.

The plot centered around the hijacking of a train for a scientific experiment. The reason for this is that the delorean had a hole in a fuel line from an arrow, and it had therefore run out of fuel.

There were no petrol stations in 1885 so they borrowed a train to get the delorean to 88 mph.

So far so good.

BUT WHY?

There was already a spare delorean in the old, abandoned mine shaft. They could have canabalised it & used it's fuel & fuel line.

I could have made that movie approx 89 minutes shorter & less expensive.

I haven't seen this movie for many years, but isn't that the same car recovered from the mine shaft?

I think so. Wikipedia says this

He explains to the Doc of that era that Doc's future self and the DeLorean time machine were accidentally sent back to the year 1885. Marty learns from a letter written by Doc in 1885, that the DeLorean is hidden in an old mineshaft. The letter instructs Marty to find the car, return to 1985, and then destroy it in order to prevent further disruption of the space-time continuum.

Because if he taken the fuel line Marty wouldn't be able to go back to 1985. Which means he would have been stuck in 1955 without the knowledge to fix the delorean. Which would mean that the space time continuum would already be more screw that it already was. Oh my god what am I doing!?

Fer christ sake, it's a fun pop corn movie, shut up and enjoy the ride.

Its a good argument to run your time machines on Diesel then you could have just used corn oil.

Durr! The time machine runs on nuclear fusion, it's the car that runs on petrol!

Yes I know... but the time machine is one whole unit and if your being really pedantic in reality has 2 fuels.
As with out the 'car' part is just a nuclear fusion reactor that doesn't move, as you need to be at 88 mph to trigger the jump in time.
