Smile Doing the Tour de France, backwards, with an engine

Mr CMSD2 and I are planning a holiday in September and have decided to do the Tour de France route starting in Essex and working our way up through Finchingfield and Saffron Walden from my place and then doing the route round Yorkshire.

We'll be checking out Motogoloco for accommodation recommendations. A visit to the Wensleydale Cheese Creamery is on the to do list already, as is a visit to see Paul the 6th - he just doesn't know it yet!

But the mighty Org must have some suggestions for great places to stay, eat, visit and ride while we are in 'God’s own county' so please post them up here.

Your near the ferries. My advice is get on one of those and go do the interesting bits of The Tour... The Vosges and The Alps!

Maybe next year, but aside from a quick blast with PT6 I've never really done Yorkshire on a bike. About time I did.

Last weekend the Morgan Sports Car club had a 'raid' on the TdF course.
There were 5oo cars!
Hope it's not so busy for you.

We're going midweek so fingers crossed it'll be quieter. I do like Morgans though.

Just beware of double deckers!

Yep, unbelievably some bright tourist chief thought it was a good idea to have one to take tourists on the route, being stuck behind one, or indeed meeting one, on a single track Dales road is not a good experience.
