Default Taxing Question

Hi guys, looking at changing the SV for a GSXR 750 at the end of next month.

I'd ride down there on the SV, and part ex it for the 750, changing my insurance over at the same time.

The problem is it doesn't have any tax on it.

So, how could I tax it without having a certificate of insurance for the 750, because I'll only be able to swap the insurance when I'm actually buying it.

Any ideas?

Get a temporary cover note for which bike you need to tax.

Its not clear where you're buying the GSXR from? A dealer can tax it for you.

That was quick.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea.

Cheers

In all bikes I have bought I have never been able to find any temporary cover note... in time you have any sort of cover note they might as well send you certificate.

In these days of emails and printers there's no need for it to ever take more than a few hours.

Or just ride it home with proof of purchase, I can't see you being done for no tax just returning home.

Perhaps our resident rozzas can clarify?

You're still riding without tax.
Technically naughty.

You could book it for an MOT though...

I will be buying it from a dealer, but I don't think they're able to tax bikes anymore.

I can't see how they could send me a temp cover note, as the insurance won't change over until I'm actually buying it.
