A Mini Adventure.
And not in my car. . .
I'm off to Cape Town next week to join my friend and together with a couple of his mates we set off on a wee adventure. Time is limited, but the plan is to ride through Botswana, into Zimbabwe, up to the Victoria Falls, into Zambia following Lake Kariba then dropping back into Zimbabwe. Then on to Harare before heading for the mystical mountains of the Eastern Highlands, then down to the lowveld before heading back to Cape Town, via Jo'burg. So excited, but I know it's gonna hurt. No back up vehicle this time. We will have to carry everything we need on the bikes and find accommodation along the way. No camping though!! Last year I did Cape Town to Jo'burg over two weeks. Next week, we'll have two days to get to Jo'burg. 1400km, all on the N1. It's a good thing I have buns of steel. Fingers well and truly crossed for a safe trip. |

Re: A Mini Adventure.
If you have 2 days then I'd stay off the N1 for most of it.

Re: A Mini Adventure.
Mel,
Have a look at google maps and you should be able to string yourself a route through the western cape, northern cape and north west province into gauteng (jnb) over two days rather than slogging it up the N1. If you want, why not stick a post out on the south african think bike forum here? I'm sure there are people on there who could recommend a route. Are you looking at purely road riding or would you be looking at dirt as well? What bikes will you be on? |
