the bike was running like crap today
must have been the cold weather felt as if it was missing and holding back all the time in the mid revs.
any one else having problems like this cause of the cold weather?? im thinking its the cold on the front plug lead. or could it be a coil breaking up finaly?? |

Re: the bike was running like crap today
Most likely carb icing, get some Silkolene Pro FST and follow the instructions and you won't get carb icing again (unless you run out). I keep a small Panda coke bottle of the stuff under the rear seat, used to be in test tubes but that looked a bit iffy by the police after a big off I had.

Sounds like carb icing, if you cant find the silkolene stuff, try runing on super unleaded, I found my curvey didnt do it if i ran it on shell optimax.

Re: the bike was running like crap today
what exactly is carb icing?? and does it simply show by lack of power at mid revs??

Re: the bike was running like crap today
Yeah I'm having the same problem withmy curvy. It's carb icing.
My bike tends to start up fine and runs perfect for the first 4miles (out of 8mile journey) then it starts to hesitate when opening the throttle and feels like it's missing also. I had the same problem with my old 600 Bandit. That's what happens I'm afraid! Make sure it doesn't catch you out. I will have to get some of that Silkolene stuff!!! |

Re: the bike was running like crap today
I think it's where the carb bodies get so cold that they make your petrol temp so low that when it's ignited it does not burn properly so causes lack of power, missfires etc.
Someone more technical will put me straight. |

Re: the bike was running like crap today
Another idea is to also bring the carb heater sensor further out and into the air flow, this won't cure carb icing by itself though.
