Default Occasional FI fault

Hi Guys,

I've only had my pointy a week (SK3) so everything is still quite new to me!

Went out on it today and a couple of times when I've turned the key on the FI symbol has appeared and the fuel pump hasn't primed, turning the key off and then back on again a couple of seconds later and the fault clears, fuel pump kicks in and we're away again. Anything obvious I should be looking for? It's going in for a service tomorrow so will mention it to them.

Cheers

Matt

Try put it in dealer mode and see what the fault code is when it does it. Faulty tip switch maybe, among other things you pointed people are lumbered with, with all that FI witchcraft

+1, really simple to do this with a paper clip! Seriously. Other than that we'll be guessing.

One thing I saw on my K3 that gave exactly the same issue was a faulty corroded connection onto one of the ignition coils. There are two, one either side of the bike inside the main frame rails and they can be difficult to see. They each have a pair of wires with spade connectors to join them on. On mind the spade connector covers were crap and just corroded, giving them a good waggle might sort it or better still remove them and clean them properly.

For the above fault the code did actually point to the coils as the problem.

Is there a tutorial somewhere for getting it into dealer mode? I found a thread via the search that had a link to one, but the page couldn't be found.

Handy document that, sorry for not finding it on my own.

Just been out to the garage and tracked down the connector for putting it in dealer mode, but typically the fault isn't happening now! I'll mention it to them at the service tomorrow, hopefully they'll be able to work it out.

Thanks for the help people
