Crisis! Is anybody there?
My wife has gone to Australia and there are no naan breads in the house! I've just made curry and there's nothing to mop it up with exept rice!!
Quickly, does anybody know how to cook rice? I'll boil the kettle just in case and have a can of Stella while you consider your answers. I've got Deuce Bigalow on DVD for tonight. Apart from the two sleeping children, it's just like being single again!! |

Put about two ounces of rice in a pan. Boil the kettle. Carefully pour the very hot water into the pan with the rice ensuring there is enough to more than cover the rice. Boil the rice for about twenty minutes - ensure there is always enough water - carefully strain the rice and then serve.
Use any bread you've got to mop up the curry!! HTH!!

20 minutes is way too long unless it's brown rice which takes ages

This is what I do...
Medium sized saucepan, put about 3/4 mug of rice into the pan and then pour water from the kettle in the pan so the rice is submerged completey by about an inch of water over the top of the rice, Bung the hob on and boil the rice for about 18 minutes or so. Altenatively go to your local shop, purchase 1 x satchet of Uncle Bens microwave in the bag Rice, 2 minutes in the microwave and your done much easier.

TBH 18 minutes for brown rice is absoloute max, if its white rice it wont need as long. Give it a taste after about 10 if its not crunchy its ready to eat.

Time's up!
The rice is perfect, thanks everybody, but in all the excitement I burned the bloody curry! Still, since I logged on I've discovered that K got robbed and Sheila got knocked off her bike so there will be no grumbling. I'll let you know about Deuce Bigalow |
