DREMEL/Rotary tools.
HELP!!
Decided that I probably should get myself a dremel or similar. What do you use/recommend? I fancy one so it makes polishing forks, downpipe etc easy but would be handy to have anyway. Is it worth spending the extra and buying a dremel or are you just paying for the name? Have seen some in Maplins http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=223105 Machine mart http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...se-power-tools Ryobi http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=125265 |

Re: DREMEL/Rotary tools.
Dremel parts are cheap cheap cheap on Ebay. But i'd go with the dremel, as there's so many attachments to it.

Re: DREMEL/Rotary tools.
Got a cheap one from Aldi. It does the job and spare bits can be got from B&Q.
A cordless Dremel would be nice though

Got one of those last week, then got it home and realised I don't actually have a use for it right now! Since then I've been trying to find things to attack... er, I mean, fix with it. I'm considering taking up dentistry...

Re: DREMEL/Rotary tools.
My experience of Dremels for Ally polishing duties is that it spins too fast and takes off too much even with the lightest of touches . I prefer to use a bench grinder with soft buffer wheels mounted on a Mandrel . For harder things like Stainless then fair enough , I tried to Dremel between the spokes on my old KTM to get the polish finish on the Spoke ridge , a couple of incidents made me realise that they are a bit manic for that and elbow grease gave a damn good finish ................................. eventually . The wheels were initially done with a Domestic drill and buffer wheel , Dremel just spattered polishing compound everywhere .
