Michelin Road 5 Announced Jan 2018
Today, Michelin announced a new sport-touring tire, the Michelin Road 5. Although the Road 5 supersedes the Pilot Road 4 link below.

Re: Michelin Road 5 Announced Jan 2018
i dont like the look of those, i prefer tyres to have sipes all the way to the edge. looking at them they would be slicks in wet conditions if taken right over. ok so i dont corner as hard or far in the wet but i still like there to be the assurance in case i do. the PR4's got very nervous in the wet at low lean angles and i suspect these will be the same. but hey you never know.

They do look strange, had my rear PR3 step out sideways yesterday morning coming off a roundabout. Got quite interesting when the front momentarily joined in too! And I pretty sure you lean way further than I do.

The "guff" sounds promising, will be interesting to see how they perform in the real world

I'm happy with PR4's. So I'll wait and see. The Press release goes on about performance after 3000 miles like that's a lot, it may be for a sport bike bit not for a tourer.

Bit of an odd way to look at it. Performance of the tyres is key to any bike, regardless of the type of riding that's done. Sports bikes that're being ridden properly and not as commuters, wouldn't be using these tyres anyway.

Re: Michelin Road 5 Announced Jan 2018
Just had a full set fitted. I will let you all know what they are like when it's not blowing a gale and hence they stop feeling like they were made by Haribo rather than Michelin.
They do pull you up quick in the wet, that's all I can attest to so far. When it's dry they tip in nice and feel planted... unfortunately tested mostly due to incompetent car driving public and the shocking state of the roads around these parts, rather than a blast around my favourite corners.

Last year we put new set on and we to the Balkans. Got home Monday abd headed off Friday for around 1000 damp GM miles round Scotland. I like to keep up so buy sport tourers. 6500 miles in two trips.

Re: Michelin Road 5 Announced Jan 2018
Been very pleased with the PR4s. About 7k on my set and they still have several mm of useable rubber. They have done some long tours and feel planted. Suspect the PR5 will be another good offering but I will be happy to fit the PR4 again, hopefully now at a keen price....
