Default Clearing finance

I am looking at buying a bike but there is outstanding finance. I believe there is a single payment left, he was pretty up front. What is the best way of making. Sure it is clear of finance before I give him final payment?

Default Clearing finance

Are you an AA or RAC member? They can do finance checks and give advice.

No. I did an hpi check, and it came up. Called the finance company who confirmed that they hold finance, but would not confirm how much was left on it.

It's on.eBay, so I could buy it now, give a deposit which would be enough to clear the finance, then confirm with the finance company it is cleared.

He can get confirmation from them, hopefully by email, immediately after settling the finance agreement.

Thats the best way to make sure you are safe on that front, as there is no way of making sure he actually clears it if you give him the deposit

Paid a PayPal deposit, as I don't think he had the money to settle, I think he's just had to pay a big fine, hence priced to sell. It was protected by the credit card then. He's paid it off and I have independent verification that it's paid, as well as his emailed confirmation. So all hunky dory. I pick it up on Sunday with cash for the balance.

Cheers for the advice. I now feel like it's Christmas and I am 7 years old. Pics will follow at some point.
