Default How and how often do you wash your textiles?

Wasn't sure where to put this so the Ecosse section will have to suffice - I'm sure we get the worst weather conditions anyway.

So, as above, how do you wash your textiles and how often? I was riding home from Glasgow in the grimness of a wet miserable night and realised that all the rubbish I get on my windscreen when in the car was being plastered all over my actual person. How long before I need to get them in the wash?

Hello

Absolutely absolutely only use textile wash e.g. Nikwax. Never use any soap based household washing powder as it can ruin the waterproof member. Wash them every now and again when you think it needs it. Bare in mind exactly what you have said, all the rubbish off the road gets flicked up into your textiles. It's good to clean it but you must use the proper stuff x

Don't worry, you're in Glasgow, when they start to smell nobody will notice

I'd say wash them when they look dirty (grey instead of black), and follow the instructions on this stuff

Use the Tech Wash first to get them clean, then the TX.Direct to re-waterproof

I've had my HG Journey II Textile suit for nearly 2 years and I can count on the one hand how many times i've bunged it in the machine. I do rub it down with a damp cloth after each ride out though.

+1 to Amanda above I only use Tech wash and shove on a delicate cycle

Thanks for your help guys. I'll pick up some of that stuff and pop it all in the wash when the gear is either looking or smelling a bit dodgy!

After a good wash hang it on the line and respray with some sort of waterproofing while it is still wet and let it dry in the wind.My removable linings get washed on a regular basis and I wear thermals with it hot or cold.

If it doesn't do a 30C machine wash I don't buy it
