Mixed feelings about this. Really happy that they are making it, but not happy about David Jason as Rincewind. He's already played Albert, and I think he just isn't right for the part as Rincewind is described.

Same thougts here - Rincewind is a gaunt scurrying little weasle of a man (which means a friend of mine fits that description perfectly )...

... I'd have cast John Cleese myself.

Mind you, I hope they have the same actor for Death - his movement and mannerisms were awesome.
Yeah, Lee's voice is a given - the man has the natural dulcet tones of a tombstone... but the guy in the suit was the real unsung hereo of Hogfather.

John Cleese..............yes, he'd have been perfect!

I agree about Lee. After the death of Ian Richardson he is really the only logical choice to take over. And 100% with you about the actor who played Death!

What?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

What is it about british TV that makes us cast the same old faces over and over again regardless of talent or suitability?

David Jason as Rincewind? FFS

Going off to sulk.

Rather coincidentally, I've just re-read The Colour Of Magic and am now enjoying The LIght Fantastic again. I love these books.

David Jason- Duh!- hopefully that's an error. Eric Idle provided Rincewind's voice on a PC game a few years ago- FAR more suitable. Maybe Bill Nighy, following his performance in HitchHiker's, though perhaps he'd be better as part of the Unseen University Faculty. Remember, as well, that Rincewind isn't all that old in the books- probably his 20's, maybe 30's.

Have you heard the sad news that Pratchett has the early stages of Alzheimers? Though his press statement is in his inimitable style.
