Default Another eBay popadom wheel!!

Yet gain I have been stung via eBay!!!

Having had bad experiences in the past, I specifically sent the seller a message asking about the condition of the wheel before I bid! To be precise:- “Hi, is the wheel 100% 'straight', no dings, no buckles??” His response was “it looks just fine came off a usable bike”.

Ok, not the most comprehensive answer, but no indication of any damage, even to the layman.

So I bid … and won …

Guess what came through the post …

What must be a hard to see Scrape:-

What must be a hard to see Flatspot:-

Not only on the most basic/quickest visual inspection by even the most lame (lay?? ) of laymen is it damaged, when you spin it, those 2 dings mean it is so buckled, it looks like I am spinning a papadom!!!

I have sent an email outlining my displeasure and hopefully we can come to an amicable resolve, so I am not going to name and shame at this point. But how can people sell stuff like this??? Is he really that blind that he couldn’t see the damage, or just trying to flog carp on eBay and prepared to deceive people to do so???

Oh, this is my 4th eBay papadom What is the matter with people?!?! And why do I keep trying

Id be very reluctant to buy stuff like that unseen on Ebay.I normally buy localish and collect in person too,so Im not saddled with a pile of sh!te and endless hassle.

I've been looking around for some wheels too, but have been worried about ending with a load of sh*t, so I rang my local dealer to find out how much new ones are - £1685?? is this about right?

Just checked RonAyers for them, $340 front, $390 rear.
And in rip-off Britain...... £390 front, £600 rear!

Considering the exchange rate at the mo, it could be worth importing a few sets and flogging them on here!!!!

Ok, the guy has accepted responsibility (said he was selling for a mate and he didn't know) and after I offered him a couple of options to resolve, has gone for a partial refund and I get to keep the wheel (for what it is worth).

Still a little disappointed I don't have a straight wheel, but at least it is an amicable ending and I didn't get stiffed for the full amount!! ... my faith in humanity is at least partially restored!!

Basically for ~£30* I now have a part worn front tyre ... that ... er I didn't need ... and a wibbly wobbly wheel that I can't really use**!!

*presuming he coughs up the refund
**but lets face it will probably try at some point ... or at least get my club hammer too and see if I can make it more acceptable!!!

If I did, then one thing is for sure, I'd describe/picture the damage!

Like I said, I'll try hammering it a bit straighter and perhaps use it on my roadbike*!!!!

*was supposed to be a trackbike wheel
