Default Servicing in Lancashire

Hi All

I'm in Blackburn and my K3 is due for it's big service (valve clearances, etc.) soon, any ideas where's a good place to get it done? The obvious place is the Rocket Centre but I get the feeling they'll be pricey so I'm not sure. I had some work done on my old NSR125 at the place by the cinema but they seemed pricey for an independant place - I thinking it was £40 + vat an hour labour, am I just being tight?

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Give Brian a bell at Wheelton Garage, he does my MOTs and a sound guy.

The obvious thing is to do it yourself, checking valve clearances is so easy, only special tool required that set of feeler gauges languishing in the bottom drawer of the toolbox.

Very rare to actually require a reshim. Beyond that the rest of the service is a piece of cake

have a look at http://www.begin-motorcycling.co.uk/d_lancs.htm

My brother also used
Mototec
Unit 36 South Ribble Enterprise Par
Capitol Way
Walton Le Dale
Preston
Lancashire
PR5 4AQ
Tel: 01772 558882

to service his blade and rated their service.

Going back to the DIY, if not confident give 4techmoto (click on Preston and see the top ad in the above link) a bell a sign up on one of their courses. Can't do any harm

Thanks Tim I'll give 4TechMoto a call, I quite fancy doing it myself but have just never really done much like that in the past.

Thanks for the recommendations too, I'm never sure where to start finding a trustworthy garage

I've used this place and think Noel there is a sound bloke who knows his stuff and won't do anything that isn't really necessary.

Fourways Motorcycles
Woodtop Garage, Bury Road, Rossendale, Lancashire, BB4 6DJ
Tel: 01706 216128

I've got a K3 and wouldn't think of going to the main dealer type places.

You're probably right about the pricing (might it be worth a phone call to check?) but before I moved south from Bury, I used to socialise with a couple of the techs from Rocket and I believe that they know their stuff and will do a decent job without the usual big dealer rigidity and/or arrogance.

Wow, this is the place I used for MOTs when I had a ratty old Honda over 10 years ago. (Top of the hill before you drop down into Rawtenstall by the station). I felt he was trustworthy then. Still in business so something must be alright.

I do my own servicing so I can't recommend based on service I've received recently, but hope this helps.
