Unhappy Terry Pratchett had Alzheimers

http://entertainment.timesonline.co....cle3042608.ece

Dunno about you lot but this has actually quite upset me. No matter if you like his books or not, you cannot argue about the quality of his writing. To be diagnosed with this is plain bloody unfair.

Damn.

What a shame. A terrible condition for anyone and those close to them to endure. Unfortunately my ex's grandma has just tipped over in to it also. Seems such a shame after a hard working life when 5 kids were brought up during the poverty of the Franco era to fizzle in to this.

I love his Discworld series, I'm actually halfway through rereading Feet of Clay.

I just saw this on the Beeb, very shocked! I've been reading his stuff since Colour of Magic came out. I even met him in Hereford once! Lovely bloke. I get the new hardback every year for my birthday in November.
Paws, I know what you mean, things have taken on a darker note in the last few years, the early stuff with Rincewind running away a lot was a true joy.
I just hope he carries on writing.

He tends to be good a being philosophical. He'll probably do a book with a character who is chronically unforgetful as a way of making light of his problem.

Still, very sorry to hear this. A great writer and it's very clever the way his books set in a fantasy world are really a commentary on our own problems and dilemas in the real world.

Most people that I know, think that Wintersmith is probably his best book. I'd agree with them, it's a work of genius.

I'm very sorry to hear about his illness.
