A fuel stainless steel oval can. I'm very excited!! Should be arriving on Saturday. Pics to follow...
Quick question- I posted this in the hardware section but either no-one's really looked at it, or no-one can be 'arrissed to answer!! ![]() Is it necessary to put any kind of seal on the pipe before slipping the new link pipe on? If so, what's the best stuff to use? After that, I'll be planning braided hoses and new fork springs in the new year. Yippee! It'll feel like a brand new bike! |

i didnt need to seal mine, just made sure that the clip was tightened up enough
keeps it in place fine i dont even have a hanger to support it (tho it is a carbon stubby) |

Congrats - have got the same can as you...
I wouldnt bother using sealant to be honest. I tried a couple of things - one was gun gum sort of stuff, cant remember the other...When I used it, put a little too much on, and the heat and pressure of the clamp expanded it out onto the outer of the link pipe - took a lot of autsol to get it off.... Cleaned it up, and put it back with nothing, and I cant say I've noticed a difference...Besides - if you ever need to take the Fuel can off for the MOT etc, it will be a lot harder if you use a sealant... HTH, Billy. |

The fuel cans are road legal anyway
2 options, first one, put the baffle in (bit silly IMO), other option, find a proper MOT station

Cheers all- PMed back Garry!
As far as MOT is concerned- the place I use (according to my Bro- he has a CBR400 with a full race system that doesn't say "not for road use")- they passed it and said that they consider Harleys with slash pipes loud. So there it is, I guess- stick with them, I'm rather excited- except for all that sawing....! ![]() Incidentally- so far cannot fault Fuel's customer service- have been very prompt and friendly all the way through my Sat delivery enquiry through to my card not going through 'cos clubfingers 'ere put the wrong expiry date in! Very recommended. |
