Thanks Plowsie.
Mine's been regularly serviced and very well looked after. You're more than welcome to do a compression test and more if that makes you feel any better. Pointy engines are stronger and last longer than curvies, and in the big scheme of things 28K is not big miles for an SV engine. Most of the accident damage has been repaired now, all that is left is a scuffed headlamp rim (buying a new one), a small scuff on the r/h headlamp bracket (not doing this cos it's tiny) and a tiny scuff on the silencer (most of that will polish out with a decent polishing kit). |

Mainly confined to radiator and fuel tank, both of which have been replaced. It went down heavy enough to bend the bars into the tank, but not heavily enough to snap the brake or clutch levers or bust the mirrors. Rads on K3s stick out a mile, so that took a proper beating and was scrapped. The new rad is a narrower but slightly deeper SV1000S one that fits and does the job. I may have a new filler neck brazed on by a local rad builder, as per a naked bike, to make it look perfect.
The story is the guy who owned it before me is a mate in his late 50s. he bought it new to commute from Bromley to West London daily. He did about 25K miles on it before he ran out of room to stop one day and bounced the left side off the r/h wing of a car when taking avoiding action. That wiped the left side of the rad, the left side of the handlebar and his knee, the bike then fell lightly on the right side crunching the right side of the rad, and bending the bar into the tank. As it went over it caught the headlamp rim and headlamp bracket lightly, and came to rest on the exhaust. you can tell it was a low speed drop by the lack of scrape damage, it just fell over sort of thing once he'd hit the wing with his left side. Once he'd dropped it he lost interest in it because it had been his pride and joy and seeing it damaged upset him, so he sold it me and bought a new GSR600 (which he's just dropped...wonder if he wants to sell?) If you want to see photos then have a look at my flickr account where there's a load on the first two or three pages and some more on page 4 taken on the day I picked it up from the original owner, Mo, who is a friend of mine. The address is in my sig. |

If you're still looking, Mr Lou has his K5 for sale, it's black and has done 2500miles, he commutes on another bike, hence the low mileage. It's showroom condition.
He's looking for around £2500 for it. Lou x |
