One for any medical practitioners on here...
I was away snowboarding over the weekend and came a cropper off a jump on Monday - whacked my head on an icy patch & pretty certain I got a dose of mild concussion off it (dizzy, felt sick & had a pounding head on for a few hours afterwards). All that has died down, and I feel fine again today (2 days later), but my neck has been in agony the last 2 days. Everything moves (stiffly) Ok but b&gger me it's painful!! I've tried the Dr's to see if there's anything I need to do but they're engaged, so in the meantime I thought why not ask the all-knowing Org? Presuming it is whiplash (which to be honest I can't see it being much else) is there anything I need to do for it, or just dose up on Ibuprofens & stop being a wuss? Cheers! |

Ouch. Sounds like it could be. I had whiplash after a car accident years back that had repercussions for years after.
If you can't get through to your doctor, take a stroll down there and book an appointment in person or go to A&E. You really SHOULD get yourself checked out. Mention the whole concussion thing as well. ![]() |

Yep sounds like concussion and its definitely a whiplash injury. You could go to a local NHS walkin centre and have it checked out but local A and E would do very little. GP won`t do anything either other than prescribe anti inflammatories and pain killers but if you have to pay for your prescriptions its cheaper to buy over the counter in the chemist. Ibuprofen 400mg 3 times a day and paracetamol 2 tablets four times a day in between the doses of Ibuprofen ie. Brufen 10am, paractetamol 2 hours afterwards. Hope it eases soon

Cheers folks, I'll see if I can get down to the Doc's this afternoon... even if just to be on the safe side I suppose it does make sense!

Very true, I always hate being made a fuss of, I don't even like getting a haircut!!
But, I suppose this is why I pay my taxes so I might as well, only takes half an hour or so. |

after weeks of traction i started some intensive physio to get the thing working again as it had ceased up if you like...here is an exercise i found very helpful. 1/sit on a chair(ie dining table chair)DO NOT LEAN BACK,sit up straight. 2/with 2 fingers(any hand)push them into your chin so your chin is being pushed inwards, push hard and if done correctly you should feel your neck muscles stretching beneath your skull down the back of your neck. 3/hold for 10 seconds/repeat 10 times every couple of hours...also in between repetitions it is sometimes a good idea to look as far left then hold for 10 seconds/repeat right.
