I have noticed lately a ticking noise from front of engine. It is getting that as soon as the bike has warmed up i can hear it used to be only after i had been riding for a while. the noise gets quicker in time with the throttle anyone any ideas???????????

If it is a ticking, then check your valve clearances.
Unfortunately valve clearances normally close up, if your is ticking coz the gaps are too big, you might have a proper problem (broken valve spring, bent valve, worn cam etc etc.). |

ive had it since the bike was new, my mechanic / suzuki dealer mechanic / other pointy owners from here / and my friends... say its normal i was just being paranoid. both tensioners getting broke in JHC bristols opinion is almost impossible.. im just going with it lol,

Tappetts, was my dads answer when I asked him about a ticking noise
And he;s a good mechanic with 35+ years experiance; whats your oil level like, and when was the oil last renewed? Matt |

Is it only at specific revs, or across all?
Happens on mine from 4-5K revs (curvy)- have just decided that it's characteristic of the engine (a few others have reported it too). I only used to notice it if I went slowly up through or sat at those revs- if I rev hard, it's harder to hear. Now I've got a loud exhaust, I can't hear it.... |
