Garage should do it matey but your problem would be getting it to the mot station -you'd be driving it there whilst it was sorn'd so you would be in trouble if you got a pull

Check with the dvla, but if memory serves you can take the car with no tax on it to be M.o.t'd as long as you book the mot and go straight there and back. You can also legaly drive a car with no tax,or mot if you are taking it to the nearest scrap yard!
Do check I've got my facts straight though because these things change all the time. Thinking about it though, You can tax and insure it on line, then tahts done, then just take it for an mot when you can. If you tax it on line they email cofirmation, and your tax disc arrives in the post in a few days. hope that helps |

... as long as you have an MOT booked, and are driving it directly to and from the SORN location to MOT location you are legally allowed on the road. Otherwise everyone would be needing to trailer vehicles or have mobile MOT stations. You can only drive unter these circumstances though. It only counts for the purposes of getting an MOT - if you stop off at the post office on the way back to then get your tax - I think you are then technically breaking the law... but I don't think it's one where you'd be slammed down if you were pulled though. May get a producer to prove that you then went and got it taxed perhaps. |

As said, SORN the car until you can get it MOT'd and YES you can drive with no tax to the MOT station as long as you have BOOKED UP before driving there.

from dvla site
Driving to an MOT test when SORN in force You can drive your vehicle to and from a pre-arranged test at an MOT test station provided you have adequate insurance cover in place for the use of that vehicle. (as you can see road traffic is not my strong point) |

The getting it to a pre-arranged MOT isn't a problem ... but is the car going to be 'off the road' when it is SORN?? ... you can't SORN it and park it on the street
![]() ![]() If it is truly going to be off the road, then you don't have a problem ![]() Last edited by Blue_SV650S; 23-02-08 at 09:43 AM. |
