Default DVLA on line.

Anyone on here re-newed their tax disc on line ???

I tried to do it yesterday but (bearing in mind the date was the 24th Feb), the system wanted me to start the tax from 1st Feb, and also bearing in mind the 5 working days time as well,,,,,,,,,,

That means by the time my tax disc gets here on Friday 29th Feb, I've paid a whole months tax for absolutely sweet FA.

Is this a con by DVLA (read government/chancellor) to screw us motorists yet even more. What moron is going to pay to back-date a tax disc for a whole month, thus giving them only 5months/11months motoring before forking out yet again.

The new tax period starts from when the old one expired So, just because you didnt pay doesnt mean that you shouldnt have

You could have gone online and declared it SORN for a month and then again to buy the tax when you needed it, assuming that it was actually off the road.

I have renewed online many times, always works well for me. IIRC the reminder form has a date on it after which you can tax your bike? Unless the bike is SORN, in which case it will tax for the current month IIRC. Just tax it closer to march 1st.

I've always found that annoying, you normally get a reminder to renew around the first week of the month but then you cant actually renew it until after the 15th day of the month, by which time you've forgotten. Nightmare.

That shouldn't happen - didi you enter the reference number from your reminder?
Or was it not taxed for the month of Feb?
I use the website every time, no problems.

I tax 2 cars and 1 bike on-line and I have never had a problem in the last 5 years with it.

Are you renewing your tax or was your bike SORN??

Just did mine today with no probs.

Think it would depend on when it was due as your Ref# on the reminder will be linked to the reminder expiration date.

I dont understand really. I got my V5 for the new one, plugged that in, and *tada* told me bike was currently taxed but due to expire and offered me tax from 1st march. So yours cant have been taxed, surely?

+1... VERY annoying.
Never had it try to take an extra months tax though.
