New Curvy

Hi guys new to the forums ,though i'd just say hi and post up some pics of my bike i picked up on wednesday,The bikes 2003 ,52 plate, one of the last carb modeld curvys i think? I've spents few years rating the sv to other ppl and how its a very good bike ,good allrounder etc etc , so i finally though to myself why don't i get one? so i did

Also had some questions , i've been trying to search "best exhaust" , "which exhaust" ,"which can" etc etc etc and i get loads of completly irrelivent stuff? am i been a complete nub as i sure its been covered a number of times? anyhows if some1 wants to give me a quick run down of the most rated exhausts for the sv650 , don't really care for looks tooo much more into which dyno's best and sounds the best,I've also been searching to for k/n filter i can find infromation on these but only ppl praising them, i read on some other sv related websites that some early ones (not sure if i place i would buy one from would be early model?) can actual cause lower power than standard? thx

firstly, welcome to the forum. i have been on here for a few months & got loads of great advice from the folks on here, and offered it when it fealt relevent.

anyway, great looking bike. glad you brought up the exhaust. you have to get rid of the standard end can, its the law. i have the Carbon Can Co stainless steel end can. it looks good & sounds great. they come up on ebay from the manufacturer quite often for about 110 quid. for that sort of money, i dont think you can beat them

Thing is....... most people will just tell you what can they have, and thats the best, depends how much you want to spend, fuel seem about the cheapest, and are pretty good, i had a titanium scorpion race can which was very loud.

To be honest if you are going simply for the V-twin then get a slip-on can, the common UK slip-ons are all virtually the same with the same component suppliers in most cases (though a lot of them won't admit that).

Art, Scorpion, CCC, Viper, Remus, WRP, Blueflame, Quill, Laser, Leo Vince, there are loads to choose from and many more manufacturers than I have listed! All of which will add that lovely V-twin burble to your SV but not really any power gains to be had. There are lot of Blueflame exhausts on this forum but I personally would not touch them with a barge pole again!

If you are looking for power gains then you need a full system, the best for modified/tuned engines on a curvy is M4 available from JHS racing, unfortunately this is straight through race use only system and it is loud. If you are looking for a removable baffle system then i would recommend Akrapovic which is a full titanium system and Arrow which also come in road legal specification (removable baffle) these two are a quality piece of kit!

I would say with the way the UK is going having a removable baffle can is the best way to go, even if you never have the baffle in (stuff it under the rear seat).

Sounds cool guys, so standard slip on cans don't add much bhp to the old sv650 ay? shame i had my hopes up that the standard end can migth be a fair bit restrictive but i guess not, still deffo need one as its a waste of a v-twin without

Hovis, yeah im a all supersports biker aswell beilve it or not ,im 21 so i am still bang on them, its just i've got rid of my crossers (more like they keep getting stolen but)and im doing alot of miles on the road to get my biking needs (aswell as being a central london courier)but tbh i am very very impressed with the sv650 handling its amazing ligth for wats consider a "big bike" feels like my old rs125's i used to have few years ago , havn't had it to long in any good conditions yet so a proper test will have to be done proberly tomz ,but from hitting a few bends hard on a bike i had been riding on the motorway for 2 hours it really inspired confidence in the corners getting some impressive lean angles with no hassle very impressive now, reading all these mags for years and them raving on bout this bike i can really see why

Braided Goodride Hoses all round
SV Logoed Heel plates
Small Fly screen
And a pair of non orginal compeltly crap wing mirrors that vibrate so much it looks they tried to make them do it on purpose lol

Get a scorpian iv got 1 on my curvy sounds the dogs dangles! Especially nice in titanium with the rainbow effect!

First things first, bring on that lovely V-twin rumble then sort out the handling.
