Default Why do it?

The question I get asked most about what I do for a job, is why do it. I often struggle to put it into words. The last person that asked was a 16 year old kid, that I had to arrest this w/end. Well I have video that was sent to me by a friend, which in pictures, says what I can't explain.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change what I do, but man what I have seen in my short service has changed me, somethings will always be with me now. For myself the hardest part is leaving work, at work which I will get better with in time.

I work with a Police Officer when I am CBTing & I always say that I have the Utmost respect for what the Police do. I could never do the job myself & feel safe in the knowledge that IF anything goes wrong I have somebody that I can ring 24/7 for help.
When I crashed my bike, the Police Officers came to the Hospital a few days later to see how I was.
It is just reassuring to know that there are people like yourselves out there mad enough (& I mean that in the nicest way) to do the job most of us wouldn't contemplate.

Good on you Blue..... Big respect. :notwo rthy:: notworthy:

THere are many things like this - biking itself for example, where if you have to ask then no explaination is going to be understood - cos if it is, you wouldn't have asked the question in the first place.

I (like most people in the Police) absolutely love my job. Its sometimes difficult, challenging and very frustrating but I wouldnt want to do anything else.

I've always thought about being an Officer. But I've been put off for reasons such as I would worry about shift work. I see my wife less than I would like as it is. Plus for my training I tend to need to eat every 3 hours so need the flexability to do that. I'm sure I could find ways and means though.

One of my biggest fears is that the job would change me. I would also be worried that I could not enjoy my 'intersting' riding style anymore.
