Okay.
My rearsets will need replacing when I eventually stick my Gixxer forks on... but right now the left one has a loose footpeg. I've tried to tighten and undo it to clean the threads, and it was stuck fast. Both the brake lever and gear levers are bent, so arguably need replacing. So effectively I've decided to buy some adjustable rearsets. Do I go for Gilles... or something else. Please discuss.

Pics would be good of the ones you're thinking of.

Gilles are lovely, but overkill and too expensive IMO. You also have to bear in mind that a lot of rearsets don't come with the provision for a rear breaklight switch so you need to get a pressure switch banjo.

Of the three sets I tried on the SV, I liked these the best and if I was buying new they would be my choice, the Gilles are nice enough, but these were better for the same money.
Cheers Mark.

Aye, the Crescent ones are really nice. Was having a gawp at those the other weekend. Arata also make some really nice ones.

The GB Moto ones found on ebay are very well made for the money (?135). I fitted some to my ex's bike (well, she fitted them with me instructing) and they do the job very well. I was very impressed with the machining and quality of the anodising.

Gilles seem the obvious choice. Twinshack seem to be supplying them for ?240, so I wouldn't want to spend more than that.
I hadn't thought of anything else - really looking for suggestions please.

gilles are horrid things, they tend to break more than one bit if you have an off and getting spares can be impossible and if you do get the bits there always the wrong colour and pricey.
over engineered and not designed by a motorcyclist imho never liked them but customers still buy them. why adjustable anyway, generally they end up in the same position as fixed ones unless your a really odd shape, buy a nicer pair of fixed ones and still save money |
