Default Caliper cleaning

I stripped and rebuilt my calipers last weekend. Replaced the seals, greased the sliders for the caliper pins etc. However, the LHS caliper still wouldn't 'float' freely on it's pins. Closer investigation showed that the hole in the caliper that one of the rubber bushes was in had corroded so much it had reduced the ID of the hole and it was 'pinching' the pin. I had to remove the rubber bush from the caliper and spend 15 minutes with iron wool cleaning out the corrosion.

The other caliper was fine. In 18 years of maintaining bikes I've never come across this. Thought I'd point it out in case it can help someone else.

Yeah I've seen the same thing, scraped all the corrosion out then used wire wool to get it back smooth, and put some rubber grease over the boot so it slides in easy and hopefully gets a little protection.
