Default Can I drive the DB7?! - help needed!

well following on from my wedding thread awhile ago, I am able to bring someone along. So for purposes of banter and a wing man, Ive elected to bring my brother

But that does meen I need a car to get us there, so ive asked a friend of the family (very good friend) if I can use his DB7 to get to the wedding and generally just pose in for a weekend

He said yes, no problem, as long as I can get fully comp insurance...... ahh.

How should I do this? Im 23 with 1 years NCB for my bike, none for car, held my car licence for 3 years. Im insured with Carole Nash for my bike atm.

Can you get insurance for 48 hours? Might it be cheeper to become a named driver on his policy for the weekend?

As long as the insurance is about the same cost as hiring a car, maybe even abit more it will be worth it as that is the other option...

Thanks for any help!

Good luck son... GOOD LUCK I hope you can though...

Google it.. I have seen ads in the motorway services.. No, not THOSE ones, advertising just this. Insurance on someone else car for short periods of time.

I'm guessing this person will say 'No-hooo-hooooooo way' to you going on as a named driver cos if you wrap it up, bang goes their NCD or protection.

Seriosuly, good luck though, you'd be buzzing so much turning up at 23yrs to a wedding in a DB7... Imagine.....

"Bridesmaids... FORM A QUEUE.
Yes, I am a tycoon. I own half of manhatten from selling my .com company..."

Sorry, living out my own dream there ha haa

Did he have a wry smile on his face as he said that? like a few have said...

BTW - Bad form old son to turn up and upstage the Bride and Groom at their wedding, something a DB7 might just do...

I think there's a reason why most sports car hire places have a minimum age limit of at least 25.
You'll find someone somewhere that will insure you, of course, but it will not be cheap at all. Prohibitively expensive in fact. But I guess it depends how much you want it. I'd contact his insurer first, and ask if there's a way you could be insured by them without it jeopardising his NCB should the worst happen.

yeah there was a wry smile

Ive spoken to the bride and she thinks its a great idea. There is a coach coming to pick everyone up for the wedding, so I cant upstage her. But I can drive it to the reception the next day!

Ive checked online and it seems that you have to be 24 or insuring a car that is lower than group 18, the DB7 is 20

so close.....

I think im going to get the owner to ring his insurance and see what they can do. Im starting to clutch at straws now (as if I wasnt before!! )

IIRC I don't think you can have 2 policies valid on the same car - so your only option was to add to his policy.
