Default Leather Softener

I have a leather jacket which i`ve never worn mainly cos the leather is so stiff its almost uncomfortable, don`t feel i can move properly in it. Has anyone any ideas on how i can soften the leather?? are there any products available to do this. Many thanks

You could try Neatsfoot oil, it works a treat on hiking boots.

Proper leather food will most likely help, not sure walking products will maintain abrasion resistance. K is the resident leather expert and she will no doubt help us on this one.

+ 1 on the Renapur, I used it on a set of gloves that had gone stiff and it returned them to a nice supple state again.

Renapur is good, but there are other makes as well, in fact just about anything with linseed oil in it will do (don't use window putty though ).

Cheers Mark.

Years ago somebody used to swear by something called Mars Oil , was used on horse saddles etc . They even reviewed it in a bike mag and the guy said he put too much on and it turned a pair of Gaerne boots into flip flops lol
