Default June Issue Of Bike Magazine

Just dropped through the letterbox, and wow.................what a step back in time. It comes with a free copy of the magazine from summer 1971. OMG............what a fabulous freebie

Memories!!!!

This took me back. An ad for Duckhams. Whatever happened to them?

Anyway for all you youngsters who are used to chain lube that is sprayed out of a can, the tin, second item down, is chain lube. Except you had to take your chain off, split link standard in those days, place the tin on your mums cooker, best done while she's out shopping, heat until runny, place non o ring chain in and leave for a while, then hang it up over the tin until all the excess ran off. Refit chain to bike. Dunno why that method has been forgotten.

It was so pongy we'd do it in a garage over a paraffin stove. We'd all do our chains at the same time, smoking bensons and telling lies.

I've flicked through Bike and Ride and neither seem to have much content.

Does the old Bike magazine better than the one published now please?

TBH the old Bike mag is pants , but it bought back memories of a gentler time when us bikers got together and rebuilt our British iron together after yet another round of blow-ups. Maybe that's why the biking scene is so different now. Everything is just too reliable.

I like Bike mag today. Perhaps I'm it's target profile.
