Is it possible to adjust an SV650s chain without a paddock stand if it is can somebody give me some tips on how to go about it?

I do it with the bike on its side stand.

If it's your first time, rule number one: Don't overtighten it!
If you think it's a bit slack, you will amazed at how much difference a quarter turn on the adjusters can make. Beware, slackening an overtightened chain again isn't as easy without a paddock stand. Check the basic allignment too, before you do anything. |

Put it on the sidestand, loosen the big 24size nut on the swing arm. then adjust the 2 12size nuts on the back of the swingarm, remember to do both sides. Clean and lube it at the same time for extra brownie points!!

Yep as above....also remember to have the adjusters on the same marks on both sides.

Chain adjustment is meant to be done on the side stand as per the handbook,
undo the Axel nut, loosen the locknuts and then turn the adjusters the same ammount (either 1/4 or 1/2 a turn )each time on both sides. use the markers as a guide not as gospel! |
