Default Help repairing damaged bike

Ok so I don't have any pictures yet I should be able to add those by thursday evening, but basically going round a bend, there was oil lost it and ended up curbing the wheels slightly and the dropping the bike (so close to saving it) the right rearset is bent and looks totally knackered, the lower and upper fairings both have resonably deep scratches indicators are damage and exhausts scratched.

The indicators, mirror and exhaust are all easy to replace and I was planning on replacing all of them anyway so not too much pain there.

The biggest problem is the rearset and the fairings. Can I just use some of the putty stuff going around to touch up the fairings and paint it? Or is this going to look really obvious.

Also, as far as rearsets go what do people recommend? Replacing them for aftermarket rearsets or getting a cheap second hand set off ebay or something?

Also, anything else to look for (Bike is only 3 weeks old so other than the damage done here should be in pristine condition)

Ty for any help
dave

the fairings would need to be plastic welded, you can buy the kits cheap enough on ebay.

once you have done that use a bit of stopper paste over the repaired parts and rub down then you are ready for paint.

my mum found something interesting on a bike forum yesterday where somebody plastic welded some fairings with cable ties, when she gets in today i will post the link up on this thread.

What? No mines held together with the cable ties as they're normally used

If you found the OEM rearsets comfortable then stick with the idea of getting a cheap second hand set, if you want after market rearsets try Rosmoto's

A company called Harris do some very nice after market rearsets !!, if they are a bit OTT try the demon tweaks catalogue or M&P or something like that google em or buy a copy of Mcn and they will be packed with spares + the companies. I personally have never replaced rear sets but would guess that you would have to be. How about changing the bike to a streetfighter with a double light converstion then you don't have to worry so much about fairings ???
