I had a small crash yesterday. Some ******* spilled diesel near a car dealer who tried to clean the mess with soap and water but made matters worse. When I saw the water I thought it was the norm as he's usually washing his cars just in front of his dealership. The bike just skidded it's front out of control, me doing all sorts of acrobatics to try to save the inevitable but eventually ended sideways with the bike on top of my left leg. I was lucky as the car behind me skidded as well and stopped just beside me, the woman driver white with fear told me she thought she'd run me over. I escaped with a limp, burned out jeans at the knee (brand new it was, ****), a bent handlebar and my ego flushed out the toilet.
I should be ok to play next Saturday though. I'm one of three guys test riding a: CBR1000RR Yr2007 Fireblade, CBR954RR Yr2002 Fireblade and VTR1000 Yr1999 Firestorm for a friend of mine who has his own motoring magazine. Should be interesting eh! Pity I'm in such a poor state. |

That's bad! shame it wasn't the dealer you got the test from's fault - that would be karma.
So can you just leave the bike dealer to sort it out? Hope your leg's OK |

It's getting better thanks. My wife's having some medical problems as well, we don't know what it is yet, she's got inner pains and her middle back hurts all the time. Took her to hospital, ran all sorts of tests but couldn't find anything wrong. They released her this morning telling her it might be a bladder infection causing the pain, and she's very down. Don't blame her. I didn't mention my accident and trashed the jeans before she could see them. I told her thy limp was from over-training at the gym. She didn't walk into the bathroom yet and I un/dressed quickly so she couldn't see the bulged knee. Don't want to add to her sorrow, that and as I'll be riding thous next Saturday she start to worry me coming from a recent off. Hope the weather changes soon.

I WILL NEXT SAT!
The truth is that the road surface here is very different to your country's. They don't use too much aggregate in the tarmac and the little there is is of smaller lower quality. The resulting surface is shiny and when seen on video looks like a dark mirror, the same effect rain gives. Its not very grippy but on the plus side when you take a fall you don't get that much road rash. We do wear protection as much as we can bear to, but practically it's unbearable. Truly. You'd ride the same as us if you where here. It's just cordura/leather jacket, gloves, boots and jeans, and by jeans I mean normal jeans. Forget leather jeans; unbearable. It's the same in Italy. There it's a bit cooler but not that much. We've been walking about outside in t-shirts for a month already. Wearing the other stuff |
