No, they are overrated and will not make much difference on insurance. |

My sv's meta 357 V2 has packed up (thinks it has no power when it has at the connector block following a short circuit while fitting new indicators for MOT) and im torn on what i should do. Is it really worth the £150 for a new one or should i disconnect it altogether? Are these things standard on all new SV's? If so i dont want to remove it. Anyone got a wiring/ installation manual for one of these???
Last time i fit something without taking the battery off ![]() |

If the alarm has packed up, can you even start the bike.
Some folk hate their alarms and rip 'em out. The meta is dealer fit but the standard Suzuki accessory. |

It thinks it has no power so gives me 4 beeps when i dissarm, no indicator flashes and goes off after 10 seconds when i set it. lol I spoke to a meta dealer and he said it sounds like i have blown the brain on the alarm box when the indicators shorted & its a problem he has seen a few times.

See if you can get it fixed. Should cost considerably less.
I like my alarm for the record. Lets me sleep easier knowing I'll hear if it gets moved, or lets me drop it off outside a cafe/supermarket without chaining it up, and best of all it beeps to tell me if someone has set it off whilst I'm away (sussing out the security on the bike). |

gettin2dizzy, thats a very valid point, I do like knowing i can hear if the alarm goes off as my garage is 20 yards from the house in a block of them. Unsure if it can be fixed or not at the moment as the dealer rekons they are sealed resin units and cant be repaired .

To be honest, if I was to install an alarm nowadays I'd buy a cheapo ebay one. Yes it can be broken easily, but any determined thief won't be arsed about alarms. As you say- it's just about hearing it go off when you're close to it. |

Think i may replace with one of these then http://www.motorbikealarm.co.uk/node/26 Seems really good value and has a lot of features. Dont suppose anyone has a wiring diagram to help me remove the old system? Metasystems.co.uk says that they cant supply installation guides?!
