How does it work - is there a sensor or is it from pressure of the fluid, or position of the lever ....my ZX6R has a snesor but it doesnt attach to anything that i can see...

I'm assuming you mean the rear brake isn't activating the light? There is a pull down switch attached to the pedal (directly above) by a spring, check that the spring is there. If so switch is probably knackered or something in between the switch and the light itself.

Sorry mate, had assumed it was an SV and you saying about the ZX6R was a comparison. If it's the ZX6R you'r having troubles with I have no idea.

my ZX6r has 2 springs on the rear brake, big one to return the pedal and a little one behind it.

The little spring is likely attatched to the pull-switch for the brake light.

![]() The unit should be tucked/mounted behind the frame with the spring hooked onto a lug off the brake pedal. Another thing to look at is the master cylinder banjo bolt, you may have a pressure switch fitted. If you bought the bike second hand the previous owner may have had rearsets which didn't come with the option to run the OEM brake switch so a pressure switch had to rigged up, however these hardly ever go wrong so if you do have one I would say it was the connection and not the switch. Pressure switch (left) and an ordinary banjo bolt (right).... ![]() ![]() Last edited by Dangerous Dave; 21-05-08 at 11:49 AM. Reason: Photos added. |
