This is Figgy (the cat). Say hello to Figgy.
![]() ![]() Figgy was so named in remembrance of an ale we'd tried at the Boringdon Arms in Turnchapel - Figgy's brew - some sort of obscure real ale. He has a sister called kenya who lives with a friend of ours. The litter which he was part of was born in April 2002. These two photos are the last ones of Figgy as he was put to sleep today. An excellent mouser, he was diagnosed with a heart condition a few months ago and was given a finite time to live. Fluid has been collecting in his abdomen making things generally uncomfortable for him. Recently he has moved slowly and carefully, refusing to use the cat flap as the use of this device must have increased the pain he was experiencing. At about 2pm we put the kids in the lounge and switched the Tv on. We brought Figgy indoors, shut the door and locked the flap and put a vet bed on the floor and made him comfortable. Whilst he ate some meat, the drug to make him drowsy was administered. It takes about ten minutes to work, roughly. He finished his meat and looked out of the window. We called him back to the vet bed and talked to him and stroked him. Some hair was carefully cut from the upper part of his front right leg - this was to be the area where the second drug - barbicide - was to be administered. The ten minutes seemed to drag on for twenty minutes. He lay down on the vet bed and I carefully held his leg in order to raise a vein. My other hand held his head to prevent him biting my wife as she administered the lethal blue substance. He struggled a little. As I released his little head he lay down and slowly died. I went outside to the garden and dug a hole in which he now lies. I'm sorry. Today was not a nice day. I am so upset.

So sorry to hear about Figgy
![]() I moan about our three monsters all the time, but I love them to bits and will be devastated when I lose them.

Aww such a shame, he's a beautiful cat. At least he was with those he loved in his last minutes. RIP Figgy. #hug#
