Is it possible to adjust the chain on an SV without a paddock stand?

You're meant to adjust it on it's side stand

you are ment to adjust it on the side stand, otherwise you are likly to over tighten.

If you don't have it setting on the sidestand, you might not have the chain slack set properly, as the manual gives 0.8" - 1.2" as the slack when on the sidestand.
However if you determine a reference to the slack on a paddock stand vs. the sidestand, you should be fine. I usually compress the rear shock after making an adjustment by weighting the bike's rear seat and check the slack to be sure (too tight = bad). |

Never having replaced a rear wheel or chain myself, is it obvious when refitting a wheel how the chain should go,I have looked in the manual and I might be a dunder head but it doesnt really give any specific advice,I dont want a tight spot on the top or bottom,,oooerr !!!
