Difference b/t US SV650 & UK SV650

Hello everybody,

For work I will be relocating from Houston to London. I am hoping to import my '05 SV650S into the UK.

Does anyone know what the differences b/t the US and UK bikes are?

Anyone have any idea how much importing the bike will cost me?

The bike has around 9k miles and it is stock except for Ohlins rear suspension, cartridge emulators for the forks, and steel braid brake lines on the front. Engine and pipe have not been touched.

Any help is much appreciated.

I don't think Houston had any high emissions laws so it is more than likely just a different colour scheme (possibly the same as a UK bike but of a different year).

Only the California bikes have different emission standards from the rest of the U.S. They use a charcoal filter to recycle gas fumes or something.

My bike is blue with the black frame.

The lights will dip the wrong way and you'll have side reflectors on probably, which you don't need over here. I can't see the maths adding up with shipping, taxes, registering fees and hassle though. Although having said that, when you convert the dollars you'd make from the bike sale to pounds you're buying power will be about halved and you wouldn't get a similar spec bike.
