What is known about the 2009 model ?
I have been holding up to see any new face make over will be done to the SV ? Has anybody heard anything ? A sales guy at the local dealer said there is no reason for Suzuki to change anything on this bike, it is its #1 seller at this point... Any pictures, any rummors, anything ? 2009 SV650, where is it ? How does it looks like ? |

Thats a Raptors & Rockets photoshop I think. Definitely nothing to say thats its a genuine Suzuki idea.
As much as I like the SV, it would be great to have an updated version, even if it was a minor facelift. Im actually quite interested in finding out about the new 675 Triumph Tiger at the moment... |

Suzuki have no official plan to alter the SV yet.

I get an E-mail sent every few weeks from visordown, they said there was strong rumours of a new SV650 for 2009 .

If it was gonna get anything then I would say a slight chassis redesign (as it did with Curvy to Pointy) and a new fairing shape. If they were to touch the motor it would be for future emissions laws only, yet to be confirmed.
I doubt they will improve the suspenders much, Suzuki already know that owners take this into there own hands if they want too, and bear in mind who the SV is aimed at in the market! |

I got to see this new beauty and in person it really strike you, it looks really nice and the ergo feels really comfy when you seat on it, very much a sport tourer. A very intimate bridge between real sport bike look and good ergonomics, design very well done. Also the sport style mirrors are very wide, and very usable.
At first I though it was an up graded version of the GS500, but the salesman at the dealer actually said it is the replacement for the Katana which desperately needed a facelift. Like always, the people at the Kawasaki forum criticizing everything that Suzuki does and thinking that every single bike Suzuki makes is to compete with their 650R. Not knowing the father of the 650R is the SV and that there is no need for any other model to compete with the 650R. The mayor critics is how outdated the new design it, the 1 piece seat and the tail light and how Suzuki is trying to make the front of every bike look like the GXR. Well, I really liked the GSX650 and unless there is a new SV650 out by August, I think I will be jumping on a GSX650, I was very impressed by how comfy it felt, looks like a bike I could go out on a 2hr ride very comfy. What do you guys think about this new bike ? |
