Default 2002 curvy throttle problems

k my throttle is stiff opening and closeing and sum times gets stuck.
i looked at the front of the bike and found that the cables are rubbing up and down on the indicator mount. they have done this so much that i think that it has broken the rubber and made the cable go rusty. also when i put the steering lock on they get pulled realy hard round the indicator mount as well.

so i think that they are in the wrong place ( but i dnt have much room to move them ect) so help would be nice.

also how much is a new set of throttle cables ??

I have a spare set i just took off my bike known to be working yours for £15. theyre meant to run between the right hand fork and the steering stem, through the cable guide which is held on with a 10mm bolt underneath the tank and then onto the carbs. they shouldnt go round any indicator mounts at all.

I think he has a Naked SV Dan, in which case you cables will be to short. If he has a 'S' version then the throttle cable goes no where near the indicator.

If the sleeve has worn through and the cable has become rusty you really need to replace those cable.

For the time being tidy the cables up, zip-tie or insulation tape them loosely to another or something like that, then lube the cables and see if that helps.

I've found if the return cable is too tight (and it's quite easy to do) then the throttle will stick.
Also the cable will eventually fray and may stick in the liner or throttle body.
Finally I've seen the actual throttle tube get gummed up, worth every now and then taking off, cleaning up and re-lubing (grease at the cable end, light machine oil[1] in between bar and tube)

I'd just get some new cables if the existing ones look manky, they're not that much or that tricky to fit and will make the world of difference.
IIRC the Suzuki SV manual (there is/was a copy available by bittorrent) shows the correct routing for all the 'N' cables inc throttle cables so you can double check they're correctly routed.

[1] Grease makes it sticky, better to be totally clean and dry or lightly lubed with oil.

have you still got the link for the bit torrent file ? so u lot think i should just get new cables i mean both of them have been raped. any one know a cheep place to get sv parts i mean a proper dealer not some wear lik ebay.

also another thing which i forgot to post up in my first post is the person who had the bike before me has updated the brake cables. and the throttle cables are stuck between the indercater mount and the brake cables. but i think it is from when u put the steering lock on which has pulled the cables over the mount. but it still the same when ur ridding

help people coz i dnt wnt to buy new cables and after a couple of months have the same problem. i think i really need a picture of were the cables should lay on the front of the bike.

I'm loath to post a direct link, lets just say that going to a certain rather well known bittorrent search site that has a certain er "jolly roger" theme and searching for "sv650" only brings up 4 results.
