Default Just had an off, nothin too serious tho.

Hi folks, its been a while since I posted opn here (just been lurking in the background) As the title says, on my morning commute to work, coming down a really steep hill (only doin about 5 mph) rear wheel locks up, bike skids out from under me. Only damage seems to be that the rear brake pedal has snapped, and an indicator lense has broke.

The thing thats puzzling me tho is that I just don't know what caused the skid in the first place, the road was wet, but not oily or anything. Its a tricky bit of road, but I ride it everyday. Its mst likeky that I just wasn't alert enough like.

going downhill would put more weight on the front, and less on the back, add a little bit of slippery surface and perhaps a bit of auto-pilot on the morning commute and you're horizontal

good to here nothing badly broke

My only worry is the availability of a quick replacement for the brake lever, otherwise I've got a ride home with no rear brake. The way the pedal snapped I haven't even got a stub to work with!

how far have you got to go? did you pick up the bit that snapped off?

lots and lots of duct tape perhaps? or rest your knee on the lower fairing if you have one?

I don't have far to go to be fair - 15miles. I've still got the snapped bit, I just don't have the duct tape.

Drill the end of the lever and put a nut n bolt in if you have the facilities.

15 miles with no rear break is no big deal, just ride carfeully. Sorry to hear about the spill. Odd that I find locking the rear makes a controllable slide usually, did the front not lock, or did you do a full 180?
