I really can't understand what happened here.

If, presumably, she took her belt off then surely she would've noticed straight away. It's not as though it's not the kind of heavy and bulky thing you'd not notice if you weren't wearing it.

Or, if she just took the weapon out of it's holster (why?), then even so as an armed officer she'd would surely have felt naked without it?

I also get the impression she'd left the shop as the weapon was identified by its serial number rather than a member of the public finding her, "Here's you gun officer".

We had people from JCUNI in Ireland drop their loaded pistol in the middle of MacDonalds in Lisburn once. Amsuing to say the least.

Amusing i would have been out of there down the road and locked my front door before he had time to pick it up.

But its just.... you can drop a pound and pick it up or your keys, normal things to do, but not "Woops dropped my gun again" next itll be shot in the foot 3rd time this week!

I'm sure this thing happens all the time in the states and places, its just its not that common over here so it make news.
People are not machines so these things will happen, I'm surprised its not happened more often with the increase in firearms offices we have now.
